We’re Friggin’ Doin’ It
So, here I go on another half cocked, not fully planned out, adventure.
It’s kind of my jam.
I’ll post more as it goes, but I’m going to keep this space as a space where I’m less filtered about a marketing voice and work under the assumption that no one really reads the blog page anyway.
I don’t know exactly where to start this so i’ll start with who I am. I’m Erik. Hi! I work in film and television doing sound right now and have for about a decade now. Its good work, pays well, keeps me interested and is completely all consuming. It’s great work to build up a bit of cash to do something different, or as a resource to have in your back pocket for when your glamping empire fails. But I’m tired. I can’t work the 15 hour days anymore, or hold a 30 foot long boom pole for long takes in the whipping wind while I pretend my rotator cuff isn’t slowly rupturing. I bought this land after working in Toronto for several years, saving money to do it. I was very fortunate to have gotten 13 (12.9) acres of land on 1100’ of oceanfront in a little cove for a very decent price just before the world ended a few years ago. I have been planning this since before I got the property, but have been slowly coming at it sideways trying to see the best way to work in harmony with the land rather than paving it, flattening it, and generally taking what I feel is so important about owing forest spaces and wrecking it to make a buck. I hope it works.
I have a lot of experience in food and beverage world, carpentry, weird building maintenance and many other things that kind of suit this new venture of mine. What skills I don’t have, My goal is to use local talent for, including making the tents!
Anyway, This is mostly placeholder for now and I have to get to work realizing someone else’s vision so I can afford to realize mine in the spring.
All this to say, I am fucking STOKED for the future and seeing how this goes and I look forward to meet you all when you visit.
